How Much Money Can I Expect To Pay For A Degree?

After taking an aptitude test and career assessment, the subject of finances must be confronted. Paying for an education is not cheap. Fortunately, federal student loans and grants make it easier to get an education and find a job that pays well. To fill out a free application, use the FAFSA.gov website to discover available aid. In a search for schools, include the words "scholarship" or "work study" to find additional options for aid. By using these benefits, tuition bills will be lowered significantly.

Even with student loans and grants, many students find their online school search to be daunting due to costs. If possible, try to limit searches to the state of residence. Non-profit community colleges offer resident tuition rates as low as $20 per credit hour in some states. Degrees may be free for low-income students who qualify for Pell grants and attend school at an in-state community college.

Attending school out of state, with or without loans and grants, will result in paying out of pocket. Most students spend between $15,000 and $150,000 for an undergraduate degree, depending on the type of school chosen. Keep in mind that universities, out-of-state schools and for-profit schools cost the most. Once you have your degree, be sure and come back to Career Explorer and check out our easy to use Job Board.
