Duties for first-line administrative managers include directly supervising support service teams. Mid-level and upper-level managers develop departmental plans, set goals and deadlines, implement procedures and define customer service protocols. They may also be involved in the hiring and dismissal of employees. On a typical day, a business administrator must make sure that work is being properly accounted for and documented according to company procedure, maintain records and interface with other departments. They also have a responsibility to make sure company resources are properly allocated and used, that employees have what they need to perform their job functions. A good business administrator can be a huge asset to a company, both in terms of company and employee morale and in improving the company’s bottom line.
