Telecommunications work environment and job outlook
Telecommunications specialists work in a technical environment with an array of electronics and communications equipment.  You can expect to work mostly indoors in a variety of offices and departments, but some specialists work on technology located outdoors.

Depending on your specialization, you can work with voice transmission, cellular capabilities, data communication, cable-to-modem communication and satellite communication. You may have to multitask, but you are often expected to solve the problem with minimal team participation on-site.

That's a very rapid expansion that is believed to be driven by technological advancement and increased usage in wireless telecommunications devices. This industry will add 286,600 new jobs over that period of time.
