Education experience of an x-ray technician

x-ray, hospital, medicince, doctors, administration and clerical, nurse

X-ray technician training programs last between one and four years. Depending on the program the student chooses, a certificate, associate degree or bachelor’s degree can be awarded at the program’s completion.

To prepare for an accredited X-ray technician training program, candidates must have their high school diploma or equivalent. Also, any coursework in math, physics, chemistry and biology is helpful preparation. At the postsecondary level, students will continue on in more specialized subjects, such as:

  • Anatomy and physiology
  • Patient care procedures
  • Radiational physics
  • Radiation protection
  • Principles of imaging
  • Medical terminology
  • Medical ethics
  • Radiobiology
  • Pathology
