An education teacher teaches whatever subject he or she is certified to teach. A person looking to start a career as a teacher can choose a college to study at that will provide him or her with the necessary education to become a teacher of whatever subject that person wants to teach. To become a history teacher, for example, a person would have to study in the history academic field at a college of his or her choosing. It typically takes around four years to obtain enough college education in order to be an education teacher. Before or immediately after graduating from college with an education degree of any sort, the individual wishing to become an education teacher may have to take an aptitude test. This type of career assessment test, when passed, should prove that the individual is very proficient in the educational subject area that he or she wishes to teach in.
An education teacher performs many duties, such as: writing down attendance, teaching a classroom full of students, creating quizzes and test for students to take, and issuing grades. Education teachers also must be present for all the parent-teacher conferences that are scheduled and may be asked to coach other activities such as quiz bowl. A typical teacher works from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., give or take a few minutes either way. However, many teachers have to make time to grade papers as well.
Many education teachers earn between $40,000 and $60,000 per year, with pay rates varying based upon the state the teacher teaches in. Becoming an education teacher typically allows you to have about six weeks, more or less, of summer vacation time. A lot of teachers still receive paychecks on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis during this period of vacation time.
Becoming an education teacher can be a good decision if you think you will enjoy educating many students on a daily basis. Taking a career assessment at a college can help you decide whether or not studying to become an education teacher would be a good thing for you to do. Although taking the career assessment isn’t totally necessary, the assessment tends to be a good indicator of whether or not you would enjoy being in a particular career field.
