How to become an architect or drafter

Architecture has the ability to enrich people’s lives on a daily basis. Those who can look at the world both creatively and analytically will make skillful architects or drafters. If a client’s needs and desires for a space can be translated into drawings and plans, and then into a tangible structure, the architectural process is successful.

Functional and beautiful buildings serve many purposes for societies all around the world. Many structures are beautiful works of art, but their users demand that they are also functional and practical. People experience architecture every day when they relax in their homes, go to work at the office, visit a museum, eat dinner in a restaurant or watch a baseball game in a stadium. To pursue a career in architecture, candidates must follow three steps:

1. Attain a professional degree in architecture from an accredited program
2. Gain work experience through an internship
3. Receive licensure by passing the Architect Registration Exam
