A broadcaster has the ability to collect and analyze outside information and communicate findings to a large audience.  If you are involved in your community, curious about the world around you, and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, broadcasting could be the career for you.

The first step to pursuing a career in broadcasting is obtaining proper education.  Typically, you will need a Bachelor’s degree from a four year university in journalism, communication, production or broadcasting.  There are also opportunities to prepare for this career with training from technical schools and career colleges. It can be beneficial to take extra classes in areas such as political science, social sciences, history, or other liberal arts to help widen your worldly perspective and develop your analytical and critical thinking skills.  You may also consider working with your schools television or radio programs in either announcing or production.  A strong education is key to ensuring a career in broadcasting.
