How to become a medical transcriptionist

medical records, administration and clerical, nurse, hospital, doctors,

In today’s medical offices and healthcare settings, an attention to detail is crucial, and may even mean the difference between life and death. Physicians and other healthcare providers often rely on recording devices to keep track of their patients’ symptoms, treatments, conditions and more. As a medical transcriptionist, you’ll do the important work of converting these recordings into medical reports, correspondence and other administrative material.

To succeed as a medical transcriptionist, you’ll need a strong attention to detail and the focus to produce accurate transcriptions. You’ll also need an understanding of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, diagnostic procedures, pharmacology and treatment assessments. And when you hear doctors use medical jargon or abbreviated words, you’ll need to translate these into their expanded forms.
