Electronics

The electronics industry provides the high-tech components that store, move and process information. Electronics is divided into manufacturing, and installation and repair. Both offer opportunities for professional growth. Businesses and organizations in all industries depend on properly functioning electronic equipment.

The digitalization of the economy has resulted in electronics and information technology permeating all industries. Manufacturing and repairing electronics components comprise large segments of the electronics industry. This article will focus on both aspects and highlight the specific characteristics of each.

Manufacturing

The electronics manufacturing industry produces computers, computer peripherals, consumer electronics like stereos and televisions and communications equipment. Technological innovation is a key driver of productivity; the industry actually needs less workers than others. The high rate of technological change creates demand for engineers, engineering technicians and other technical specialists. A large portion of the industry is devoted to research and development. Computer microchip manufacturers, such as Intel, design and manufacture new chips, even as they release the latest designs to the market.

Despite the technical sophistication of each individual product, the production methods in this industry are standardized and show little variation. A single facility can manufacture multiple products using the same equipment. This accounts for the tremendous productivity of this industry and the relatively low need for workers.

Installation and Repair

The economy depends on electronic products to maintain productivity and functionality. Electronics installation and repair is a vital piece of the electronics industry. Computerized robots manufacture everything from cars to military weapons. Advanced communications equipment enhances the Internet and computer networks. Electrical power is generated using complex electronics. The armed forces use electronics to boost their performance and win wars.

This industry undergirds every sector. Electronics installers and repair technicians are responsible for initially installing all this equipment and making sure it runs properly. These workers sometimes travel to repair equipment. They typically have assigned areas or regions in which to work. Repairing complex industrial equipment is an arduous task, but it has been made much easier by the use of automatic sensory and detection systems. The repairman uses a computer to diagnose the equipment. Sometimes the equipment must be diagnosed manually.

Electronics Industry

The electronics industry is a global endeavor employing technicians and manufacturers all over the world. Electronics literally power the economy and make information technology possible. Students or aspirants who pass the right aptitude test will be very happy in the electronics industry.
