The primary job of an aviation flight attendant is to ensure that aviation safety regulations are being followed on the airplane at all times. They are trained to assist with passenger safety in emergencies, provide care for children, the elderly and the disabled, help make the trip comfortable for passengers and serve beverages, snacks and meals during the flight.
Thousands of people apply to be aviation flight attendants each year. The competition is stiff with positions going to those with at least some college education. There are specific height, weight and appearance requirements for all flight attendants no matter which airlines they are employed by. Relocation is also a requirement in most cases, as flight attendants tend to live in their airline's hub city.
On average, aviation flight attendants make $43,000 a year. That figure increases or decreases based on seniority, airline and location. Most flight attendants work 65 to 85 hours a month and receive an allowance when they are on duty away from home.
If the idea of traveling the world while you work appeals to you, consider a career as an aviation flight attendant.
