Historic Colleges

Being one of the earliest colonies in the United States there is a great tradition when it comes to historic colleges. New York is the only state that has two different Ivy League Schools in Cornell University and Columbia University. These schools have been landmarks since their modest beginning in the middle 1700's. Columbia University began its long history in a small schoolhouse in Manhattan while Cornell University began life as a small college in a pristine environment.

SUNY in New York

The colleges in New York are not only historic, like the two previously mentioned, but also provide a wide range of different opportunities for students to learn, master, and then build their life with. The main Universities in New York are a part of the State University of New York, or SUNY. This system is a large conglomerate of 64 community campuses that are spread out within the state. There are four main university centers that are a part of SUNY. These include The University at Albany, Binghamton University, University at Buffalo, and SUNY Stony Brook. These colleges offer degrees in everything from culinary arts, to fashion design, to ceramics, veterinary medicines, agriculture, and everything else in between.

Besides the vast SUNY system, New York also boasts several other colleges and trade schools from Buffalo to New York City that people can choose from to start their individual careers. The Julliard School, Mannes College of Music, Le Moyne College, the New York Institute of Technology, the New York School of Medicine, Pace University, and Berkeley College are among some of the leaders in education and placement in the country.
